Year 11

Still Life: Memento Mori and Vanitas- Painting
Year 11 built upon earlier understandings of memento mori in this unit with a focus on vanitas, or the idea of emptiness in material possessions.

Studies of Landscape and Place- Dry Point Etching, Ceramics, Mixed Media/Abstract Painting

Students aimed to create a sense of place through a variety of artmaking techniques to form a body of work. They examined and researched places of significance in their lives and from there determined imagery and mood to capture the experience of the place. They studied the work of printmaker Bruce Latimer, mixed media artist John Wolseley and sculptor Bronwyn Oliver.

Portraits- Drawing

Studying portraiture, Year 11 needed to represent a member of our College staff. Most sought inspiration from teachers they particularly bond with. They intended to reveal aspects of their subject's personality and experiences that may not always be recognized in their "school face". this work was exhibited in Oh Captain, My Captain, covered in our news section.
