Assessment 2 - Lanscape and Place
The second practical assessment saw year 11 complete a body of work that explores lanscape and place using dry point etching, ceramics and their choice of mixed media or abstract painting. They used the following quotes as starting points in the development of ideas.
"Look in one's own backyard" -Arthur Streeton "…the most important thing, is to begin with quick drawings, because you’ve got to get the essence of it. But mark making is more than that. As you go on with the quick drawings, things come out that normally wouldn’t come out if you’re doing a proper drawing. I don’t worry about exaggerations or “mistakes”, or whether things precisely like they should. After a while, you can see possibilities, rather than just illustrations." -John Olsen Assessment 3 - Oh Captain, My CaptainThe third and final practical assessment task completed by year 11 comprised of portraits of staff members at St Johns College. They were to find and illustrate a different side to their chosen staff member that alternated from the guise that was more commonly seen in day to day life at the college.
