Pop Art - Print making
In this topic, Year 8 learn The Pop Art movement and how it reflected the ideology of its time and popular culture as a subject of artworks for particular artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein who used the printing process in their practices. With images of their celebrity poses, Year 8 explored the technique of lino printing and replicated the styles and practices of the studied artists.
Skulls
Students learn to create a sculpture from clay, draw the anatomy of the skull with a focus on form and tone, create meaning in their own work, explain the use of cultural symbols in artworks, analyse artworks according to the relationship between artwork and world, and recognise how artists reinterpret ideas and images from the past in contemporary work.
